In previous cross-modal priming ERP studies it is shown that women integrate emotional prosody (EP) and word valence earlier than men in an automated fashion, showing smaller N400 potentials to emotional words preceded by a sentence with congruous compared to incongruous EP. This study tries to determine whether these gender differences are detectable in an earlier stage of processing. Prime sentences and target words were presented as described in previous studies but including linguistic prosody as an ecological validity factor as it also contributes to meaning. The lexical judgment revealed that women show smaller P200 amplitudes to emotionally congruent compared to incongruent words.

Аннотация. В проведенных ранее исследованиях кроссмодального прайминга с регистрацией вызванных потенциалов показано, что женщины интегрируют эмо- циональную просодию и валентность слов раньше, чем мужчины, и автоматически, демонстрируя меньший компонент N400 в ответ на эмоционально окрашенные слова, которым предшествовали предложения с согласующейся эмо- циональной просодией, по сравнению с несогласующейся. Целью данного исследования было выяснить, можно ли обнаружить эти гендерные различия на более раннем этапе обработки информации. Предложения-праймы и целевые сло- ва предъявлялись так же, как в более ранних исследованиях, но включали языковую просодию как фактор, повышающий экологическую валидность, по- скольку она тоже вносит вклад в установление значения. Задача лексического решения показала, что у женщин меньше амплитуда компонента P200 в ответ на эмоционально согласующиеся слова по сравнению с несогласующимися.
